Wadia hospital to buy CCTVs after baby kidnapping
The Nowrosjee Wadia Maternity hospital in Parel area of Mumbai has said that it will order CCTV cameras as soon as possible after it was found that a woman walked into the hospital and kidnapped a one-day old baby from a ward.
The police investigations has found so far that the security in-charge of the hospital had resigned earlier because his suggestions for improving security were not given consideration by the management. The police found that Jagdish Dekhne, the security in-charge at the hospital, offered his resignation when the management did not accept his recommendations for installation of CCTVs and employing more guards.
The police investigations are yet to get a clue of the stolen baby of the woman who was involved in kidnapping. The baby was allegedly stolen at 5.30pm on Wednesday. The hospital management has initiated an internal inquiry into the incident.
The mother of the baby, Jasmin Naik had come from Dubai for the delivery kept regretting her decision to take a walk and leaving the baby at the room. Many say that the hospital was waiting for an incidence like this to happen due to the apparent lack of proper securities.
The Bombay High Court in 2009 issued 23 guidelines for enhancing security in government, semi-government and BMC-run hospitals. Wadia hospital is funded by the state as well as the civic body, and partly by the Wadia trust, but has not heeded to the guidelines issued by the HC.
