Volkswagen Launches Its World Famous Jetta In IndiaVolkswagen, Europe’s largest carmaker launched its Jetta in India on Wednesday. Joerg Mueller, President and Managing Director, Volkswagen Group India, said that the company is planning to capture Indian market with its entry in all segments. Within the passage of the time, the company will launch various models in different segments. It is planning to launch the Phaeton sedan, a coupe variant of the Passat and the Tiguan sports utility vehicle. The company officials are researching about the scope of commercial vehicle (CV) range. The company will launch a compact car based on the Polo platform in India in 2010.

Mr Mueller added that Jetta is being assembled in the Skoda facility in Aurangabad with parts coming in from company’s Mexico facility. He added that the work in the Chakan plant has been accelerated. VW Jetta and Skoda Fabia from the first half of 2009 will be manufactured in this plant with a high local content.

The newly launched Jetta is available in three variants and two engines. The price of the Jetta 1.6L is Rs. 12.97 lakh and the 1.9L diesel Trendline Rs. 14.22 lakh. The top of the line 1.9L diesel Comfortline with DSG automatic transmission will cost Rs. 16.67 lakh. It is available in campanella white, red spice, reflex silver, platinum grey and deep black.
