Volkswagen ID.4 AWD gets EPA range ratings of up to 249 miles per charge
German Automobile giant Volkswagen (VW) has confirmed that the ID.4 all-wheel drive (AWD) has been listed on the EPA’s official website with range ratings of up to 240-249 miles (386-401 km) on a single charge. The range and efficiency numbers for the all-electric ID.4 crossover SUV were released by the manufacturer a few weeks back. Now, the vehicle has been rated by the U.S. federal government’s environmental agency EPA, which award ratings to electric vehicles (EVs) according to their energy efficiency.
Unfortunately, the EPA has not revealed the City and Highway range ratings for the ID.4 AWD version. However, it would likely be in the range of 220 to 227 miles as the rear-wheel drive (RWD) version of the vehicle has been rated at 230.2 to 237.1 miles (on highways).
More precisely, the 2021 Volkswagen ID.4 AWD Pro with 19-inch wheels has got a range rating of 249 miles (401 km) between two charges; while EPA energy consumption (combined) has been reported at 97 MPGe: 347 Wh/mi (216 Wh/km). On city roads and highways, energy consumption settles at 102 MPGe: 330 Wh/mi (205 Wh/km) and 90 MPGe: 374 Wh/mi (233 Wh/km), respectively.
The 2021 Volkswagen ID.4 Pro RWD (19-inch) comes equipped with a battery pack of 82kWh, which stores enough energy to deliver a range of 260 miles (418 km) per full charge. The 2021 Volkswagen ID.4 Pro S RWD (19-inch) also comes equipped with the same 82kWh battery pack but offers a slightly shortage range of 250 miles (402 km) per charge.
The AWD version of the all-electric crossover SUV, both Pro and Pro S (19-inch) also come with the same 82kWh battery but both differ in driving range. While the 2021 Volkswagen ID.4 AWD Pro AWD (19-inch) offers a range of 249 miles (401 km), the 2021 Volkswagen ID.4 AWD Pro S AWD (19-inch) offers a range of 240 miles (386 km) on a single charge.
Like the VW ID.3, the ID.4 crossover SUV runs totally on electric energy. Based on German automobile giant’s electric MEB platform, it is second EV in the group’s ID series. It promises a blend of comfortable, smooth, environment-friendly travel. It offers a contemporary design with high-tech features, ambient lighting as well as generous cargo space. A 10-inch infotainment touchscreen accompanied by the wireless versions of Apple CarPlay and Android Auto comes as standard. In addition all ID.4 models come with a 5.3-inch digital gauge display and voice recognition capability.
