Viswanathan Anand Slides To 5th Position in World Ranking

The coveted chess player Viswanathan Anand had managed to stay in the top three Viswanathan Anand Slides To 5th Position in World Rankingin World Ranking for over a decade. But a recent setback has sent his rank crashing to 5th place. 

This has come to light in the latest world rankings declared by the world governing body FIDE. Anand had lost the Chess Masters Final Tournament in Bilbao, Spain to arch rival Veselin Topalov of Bulgaria who is now world Number one. 

The second and third positions have been awarded to Alexander Morozewich of Russia and Vassily Ivanchuk of Ukraine respectively. It is a tough fight for the top position as Topalov is rated ELO 2791 while Anand is at 2783. Furthermore,Vladimir Kramnik, former World Champion of Russia, is just 10 points behind Anand at 6th position and a strong contender as well. 

The Important date to note is 11-28 Oct in Bonn, Germany where a strong fight of nerves is on the cards between Kramnik and Anand.
