Rajasthan Government has become the first State government to implement the Sixth Pay Commission recommendations from 1st September 2006. In a recent decision the Rajasthan Government has increased maternity leave from 135 days to 180 days and this facility may be availed by employees who are already on maternity leave.

As if marking the festive season the government is in the process of making amendments in the Rajasthan Service Act for increasing the leave period of employees. In a welcome news the state also announced other benefits including voluntary retirement scheme and promotions for employees who fall in the 9, 18 and 27 years of service bracket.

Futhermore, the deduction of house rent for the employees who are staying in government accommodation shall be from September 1 2008 instead of the previous January 1 2009. Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje's generosity is quite evident and commendable.
