U.S. Mortgage Foreclosures grow by 6% in February
The mortgage foreclosures were reported up by 6% in the month of February, according to an industry report released by RealtyTrac Inc., a California based seller of default data, on Thursday. This is reported as the slowest growth rate of Foreclosures in past 4 years. The foreclosures in February were reported lower by 2% when compared with the month of January.
In the month of February the total number of mortgage foreclosures was reported 308,524. These foreclosures combine the notice of default, auction or seizure. The figures tells that one out of every 418 U. S. housing unit got the notice of foreclosure in the month of February. However, the year on year growth in the month of February was reported the 50th consecutive increase in monthly U. S. foreclosures.
RealtyTrac started tracking annual changes in January 2006. According to its latest data for the month of February, the states with the highest foreclosure rates are Nevada, Arizona and Florida. California was reported the fourth state in the list.
Nevada posted the highest foreclosure rate in February with one out of every 102 housing units getting a foreclosure filing. Arizona and Florida are the next in the list with one of every 163 housing units was subject to a foreclosure filing. California and Michigan were reported the fourth and fifth respectively.
