US FAA to review reports linked to Boeing 787 Dreamliner
According to a new report, the US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) is set to review reports linked to the issues affecting Boeing Co's new 787 Dreamliner aircraft.
The transport officials are set to conduct a review into the jet's power system, according to the report. There are indications that the regulator will hold a media event to discuss the issues that recently affected the aircraft in the US.
The aircraft maker has been seeking permission to fly the plane on long transocean routes but transport officials have raised concerns over the safety issues. It is believed that if an official review is launched by the regulator, the approval might be delayed further.
Some customers of the company raised concerns after the large aircraft was found to be involved in a second incident on Thursday. A fuel leak identified at Boston's Logan International Airport forced Japan Airlines to cancel a takeoff of 787. Day earlier, Japan Airlines had recorded an electrical fire on another 787 at the same airport in the US.
Boeing has sold 848 of the planes but the company had to delay the delivery schedule by three years mainly due to a series of production delays.
