US average gas price falls to $3.42, survey
According to a new survey by the Lundberg Survey, the average price for a gallon of gas across the United Sates has fallen to $3.42 due to the decrease in crude oil prices.
The level is down more than 12 cents over the past two weeks and down by 25 cents since last month, the survey showed. Albuquerque, New Mexico recorded the lowest average gasoline price at $3.07 while on the other hand, San Francisco recorded the highest average at $3.81.
Trilby Lundberg said, "This is the rest of the crude oil price reductions of prior days. plus the downward pull on gasoline prices from our September gasoline demand falling below demand of the prior September."
She also said that the demand for gas remained low due to unemployment and underemployment. Even as the crude oil price rose towards the end of the week, Lundberg said that this does not indicate an end to the fall in prices.
