US actor Will Smith to host Nobel Peace concert

US actor Will Smith to host Nobel Peace concert Oslo - US actor Will Smith and his wife, actress Jada Pinkett Smith, have been selected to co-host the upcoming Nobel Peace Prize Concert, organizers said Wednesday.

Among acts slated to perform at the December 11 concert are singer Wyclef Jean, disco queen Donna Summer, US country musician Toby Keith, and the duo Amadou & Miriam from Mali.

The concert is to be held the day after the Nobel Peace Prize ceremony.

Speculation is in full swing as to the likely winner of the peace prize. The five-member Nobel Committee's choice is due to be announced October 9.

This year the committee received a record 205 nominations, including for 33 organizations.

The 2008 winner was former Finnish president Martti Ahtisaari, who was cited for his international mediation efforts.

The Nobel Peace Prize was endowed by Alfred Nobel, the Swedish industrialist who invented dynamite. (dpa)
