U.K.-based Jorvik introduces two new electric trikes for off-road adventures

Jorvik Tricycles, a UK-based producer of reliable, aesthetically pleasing and affordable tricycles, has introduced two new electric trikes: the JMT-11 and JMT-13, which have specifically been designed to be ridden off-road.

When it comes to off-road e-biking, the two new rugged electric three-wheelers are expected to appeal to a wider audience. Afterall, today’s consumers are demanding electric mobility solutions to ride in all types of terrain. Many of the increasing number of companies and start-ups are introducing solutions for practical and convenient commuting, while others are offering a myriad of utility-focused cargo e-bikes that have remarkable payload capacities. Meanwhile, some are working on machines capable of tackling all types of off-road terrain.

While e-bikes like the DYU King750 are perfect for those who might be looking to tackle some rugged terrain, not everyone is looking to hit the such terrain on two wheels. That is why an increasing number of companies are bringing three-wheeled e-bikes or e-trikes. The same reason seems to be behind the newly-introduced JMT-11 and JMT-13 e-trikes.

The JMT-11 and JMT-13 are actually electric mountain trikes that have specifically been designed and developed to tackle off-road terrain. The JMT-11 comes equipped with a 250-watt electric motor, while the JMT-13 has been fitted with a 500-watt motor. In both cases, the electric motors come from Bafang – one of the largest manufacturers of e-bike-specific motors in the entire world.

When it comes to battery tech, both e-trikes have been equipped with a dual-battery setup, with an impressive capacity of 840 watt-hours. The battery packs are lockable as well as removable, which makes both on and off charging convenient. The smaller, more affordable JMT-11 e-trike has a 250-watt front-hub mounted e-motor, and chain connects the back wheels to the pedals. Presence of a Shimano Nexus 7-speed geared hub smoothens out pedal strokes for the rider. It easily tackles rough terrain full of roots, ruts and even gravel, thanks to an RST suspension fork.

The swankier and more powerful JMT-13 e-trike boasts a mid-drive Bafang M500 electric motor that is capable of churning out 500 watts of nominal power. The list of its other notable features includes Trama hydraulic suspension forks, and a nifty colour display that provides the rider with important information regarding speed, battery charge etc.

The JMT-13 e-trike carries a price tag of £4,099 (approx. US$5,089), while the JMT-11 retails for £3,899 (approx. US$4,841).
