Twitter says brief service outage on Monday was caused by error in 'routine change'

Twitter-logoWith Twitter having been hit by a short, half-hour service outage - from 1:08 p. m. 1:33 p. m. Pacific Daylight Time - on Monday, the company said in a brief post that the outage had resulted from a glitch that occurred during a "routine change."

The Twitter service outage, which affected an unspecified number of users, came to light when users reported, earlier on Monday, that their click on trending topics was prompting an error message which said that "something is technically wrong."

Though Twitter was back in working order by Monday afternoon, the multiple technical issues which led to the service outage earlier in the day reportedly caused quite a few problems for Twitter users, including a hitch in the updating of the tweet streams of the users.

Along with the problems which the users experienced with regard to the delays in the delivery of tweets, some of the users also reported that the "connect" and "discover" tabs also were not functioning properly, on the desktop version of Twitter as well as on some of its mobile versions.

Stating that the issues that caused the service outage had been resolved, and extending an apology for the glitch, Twitter said in its post: "We rolled back the erroneous change as soon as we identified the issue."
