Trial of ‘Polish Fritzl’ begins day after dungeon dad’s conviction
London, Mar 21 : A day after Josef Fritzl's case came to a close in Austria, the trial of a 46-year-old man accused of imprisoning and raping his daughter opened in northern Poland.
Krzysztof B, dubbed the "Polish Fritzl", took the stand on Friday after he allegedly raped his daughter repeatedly and kept her prisoner for six years.
He faces charges of repeatedly raping his daughter using violence and threats, and physically and emotionally abusing his family, reports The Times.
Krzysztof B has denied the charges of multiple counts of rape, illegally holding his daughter captive and five other more minor crimes. He has told authorities that he had sex with his daughter, but says that is was consensual.
The proceedings are being held behind closed doors in the eastern city of Bialystok.
The trial comes a day after the case of Austrian Josef Fritzl, who was found guilty on Thursday and sentenced to life imprisonment for the death of a baby he fathered with his daughter Elisabeth.
Fritzl had similarly held his daughter prisoner in a dungeon below his house.
Krzysztof B's daughter, Alicja B, has also alleged that the suspect fathered two children with her that were put up for adoption.
In an interview published by Fakt, Alicja B said that she hates her father and that he "doesn't even deserve to be called a father".
"I wish him death, for what he did to me, for wasting my life," she was quoted as saying.
"He made me believe that in every family the father sleeps with his daughters. He said that's how a daughter is prepared for life with men," she added. (ANI)
