T-Mobile launches second Google phone, myTouch

T-Mobile launches second Google phone, myTouchIn a highly competitive smart phone market, T-Mobile announced the launch of next Google Android device, myTouch, the second mobile by the company after the G1 which uses Google's open-source mobile operating system, Android.

The new cell phone, manufactured by HTC, has almost same hardware as the Google Ion, known as the HTC Magic, launched at the GSMA Mobile World Congress in Barcelona in February.

The new myTouch will have new colors and enhanced software capabilities such as 512 Megabytes of internal memory and microSD for external storage besides 4GB microSD card. The mobile supports 3.2" QVGA display, the virtual keyboard and a 3.2-megapixel camera. However it doesn’t have a physical keyboard which differentiates the product from G1.

The company may launch more Android devices in coming months, hoping good response to myTouch by customers due to its easy to use functionality. The smartphone has been priced at $199 with a two-year service contract for existing customers from July while non-T-Mobile customers will get it in the first week of August.

The company will promote more personalized features of myTouch phone among the masses. Josh Lonn, Director of product development for T-Mobile said, "We learned that Android offers hidden powers that were not discovered by even the heaviest users [of the G1]."
