TCS bags order worth Rs 18 crore
Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) has secured an order worth Rs 18 crore from the police department of Gujarat to automate and electronically link up each of the 483 police stations in the State.
Under the five-year project, TCS will develop, deploy and support enterprise-wide software in all of these police stations.
According to sources, this implementation is the first of its kind in India.
Once this project takes off, TCS estimates that about 25% of trained policemen in Gujarat will be freed from doing clerical jobs. The company has already started work on the pilot project at one of the police stations in the state.
Apart from this, TCS has also been commissioned to develop the Web portal for the Gujarat Police.
