New Delhi, Jan 5 : Deputy Prime Minister of Spain, Maria Teresa Fernandez de la Vega, on her first visit to India, met senior BJP leader L. K Advani here today.

Fernandez de la Vega''s visit to India is seen as an attempt to further strengthen diplomatic and trade relations between India and Spain.

Spain, a key member state of the European Union (EU) had formulated a special plan titled "Plan India", focusing on the increasing trade and energy cooperation particularly in wind energy with India initially.

Spain has shown keen interest in defence co-operation with India.

Trade between India and Spain is growing and has more than quadrupled from 900 million dollars in 2000 to 3985 million dollars in 2007.

New Delhi, Jan. 5 : U. S. Ambassador to India, David C. Mulford, on Monday said that a team of the U. S. Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) is still in Mumbai pursuing leads into the conspiracy that led to the November 2008 terror attacks on Mumbai, and expressed Washington's determination to get to the bottom of the conspiracy.

New Delhi, Jan 5: Chinese Vice Foreign Minister He Yafei met Foreign Secretary Shiv Shankar Menon here today.

Yafei is also scheduled to meet National Secuirty Advisor M K Narayanan to defuse tensions between India and Pakistan following the Mumbai terror attacks.

The meeting was held ahead of Chinese Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi visit to India later this week.

India is expected to provide evidence of a Pakistani element''s involvement in the Mumbai terror attacks to Jiechi.

New Delhi, Jan 5: Transporters went on an indefinite strike from Monday, as talks with the government remained inconclusive over reduction of diesel and tyre prices.

"We have gone on a strike from midnight. We will continue our strike until our demands are met by the government," said All India Motor Transport Congress President Charan Singh Lohra.

India has compiled a dossier of evidence, which includes confession of Ajmal Amir Kasab, the lone terrorist arrested during the attack, satellite phone intercepts and record of logbooks recovered from a ship by which ten heavily armed terrorists came from Karachi to Mumbai on November 26.

New Delhi, Jan. 4 : It was another chilly morning for people in Delhi on Sunday with the minimum temperature settling at 8.1 degree Celsius.

"The minimum temperature was one degree above the normal temperature at this time of the season," said Met officials.

On Saturday, the minimum temperature was recorded at 5.4 degree Celsius while the maximum temperature recorded at 15 degree Celsius; five degrees below Saturday''''s maximum.

Season''''s minimum temperature plummeted to a low of four degrees Celsius in New Delhi on Friday.
