Bhairon Singh ShekhawatNew Delhi/Jaipur, Jan. 8 : An emergency meeting was called at Jaswant Singh''s residence on Thursday to douse out an intra-party crisis that erupted after former Vice-President Bhairon Singh Shekhawat took the rebellious path and alleged widespread corruption in the party and slammed the BJP president for misdemeanour.

The meeting, held in the national capital, went on for two hours, but ended inconclusively.

BJP President Rajnath Singh, who was in the line of fire after he ruled out chances of Shekhawat contesting the elections, was also present in the meeting.

India looking at what action Pak takes against Mumbai attackers: Anand Sharma

Anand SharmaNew Delhi, Jan 8 : Minister of State for External Affairs Anand Sharma today said that New Delhi is looking at what action Pakistan will take against the Mumbai terror attackers and whether it will dismantle the terror infrastructure on its soil.

"Pakistan must take effective action. Pakistan has unfortunately been for long in a state of denial. They should have accepted it soon after these organisations based in Pakistan were named and proscribed by the United Nations Security Council and the individuals who had masterminded the dastardly terror attack in Mumbai were also identified and named,” said Sharma.

Boucher to discuss Mumbai attack probe with Menon

Richard BoucherNew Delhi, Jan. 8 : US Assistant Secretary of State for Central and South Asia, Richard Boucher, is arriving here today and will meet with Foreign Secretary Shivshankar Menon.

Sources said that the two officials are likely to discuss the progress made in the probe into the Mumbai terror strikes, and how its perpetrators can be brought to justice.

The two sides are expected to discuss how Pakistan can be made to cooperate in pursuing the leads submitted to it by India.

Vice President inaugurates NCC Republic Day Camp

Hamid AnsariNew Delhi, Jan 9 : Vice President Hamid Ansari inaugurated the National Cadet Corps (NCC) Republic Day Camp-2009 here today.

A contingent of NCC cadets from all the three wings - Army, Navy and Air Force, presented a guard of honour to the Vice President on his arrival at the NCC camp, Delhi Cantonment.

Speaking on the occasion, Vice President Mohammad Hamid Ansari said that the cadets hailing from different parts of the country with different linguistic and religious background represented a ''Mini India.''

India slams Pakistan's "recalcitrant" line on Mumbai attacks

Indian FlagNew Delhi - India Thursday criticized Pakistan for its "flip-flop" over the citizenship of sole surviving Mumbai attacker Ajmal Amir Qasab and its "recalcitrance" in failing to bring the perpetrators of the terrorist attacks to justice.

"He (Qasab) has told us quite categorically where he comes from, where he has received military and arms training from and where his handlers are located," India's Foreign Minister Pranab Mukherjee said in the southern city of Chennai.

"Unfortunately despite this we have seen a consistent flip-flop in the reaction of the government in Islamabad," he said.

India suggests restoring nuclear commerce with Canada

CanadaNew Delhi, Jan 8 : Special Envoy to Prime Minister on the nuclear deal, Shyam Saran on Thursday hinted at restoring nuclear commerce with Canada.

Saran told reporters that along with the civil nuclear treaties with France, Russia and the USA, there could be cooperation with Canada also.
