Mumbai terror attack perpetrators need to booked: David C.Mulford

David C MulfordNew Delhi, Jan. 9 : The outgoing U. S Ambassador to India David C Mulford on Friday said that the perpetrators of the Mumbai terror attacks needed to be booked.

Speaking at his farewell ceremony here, Mulford said: "The US has been pressing as India has, for deeper understanding in Pakistan of the roots of this problem, learning more and more in the hope that we can bring the people who committed this heinous act to book."

Mulford said that the U. S was determined to work "non-stop" and "as long as it takes" to ensure that the perpetrators of the Mumbai terror attacks are brought to justice.

BPCL, OIL workers call off three-day strike

Bharat Petroleum Corporation LimitedNew Delhi, Jan 9 : Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd (BPCL) and Oil India Ltd workers today called off their three-day strike, which has severely affected supplies of transport fuels.

BPCL Director (Marketing) S Radhakrishnan here today said that the fuel supplies would be resumed by this evening.

More than 70 per cent of the striking employees resumed work in Marketing, Radhakrishnan said.

High Court refuses to extend Sanjeev Nanda''s interim bail

Justice Kailash Gambhir dismissed the petition which means Sanjeev has to surrender himself on Saturday.

On December 19, the court had granted three-week interim bail to Sanjeev, who is undergoing five years jail term.

National Commission for Minorities Educational Institutions strengthened

India MapNew Delhi, Jan 9 : The Union Cabinet today approved amendments to the National Commission for Minorities Educational Institutions Act 2004.

The National Commission for Minority Educational Institutions was established through the promulgation of an Ordinance dated November 11, 2004.

The Ordinance was replaced by the National Commission for Minority Educational Institutions Act 2004 (2 of 2005) which was notified on January 6, 2005.

MSN enlisted as web portal spreading porn in China

New Delhi, January 9 : A second list of web portals violating China's Internet regulations includes Microsoft''s MSN China.

The list of 14 portals has been compiled by the China Internet Illegal Information Reporting Center (CIIRC) as the Government continues its nationwide crackdown on Internet pornography.

The CIIRC said in a statement that all the enlisted portals contained content that either was against public morality or harmed children''s psychological health.

It further said that MSN China's movie and community sections contained a large number of lewd pictures.

Deadlock over transporters strike in India continues

New Delhi, ANI 9 : The stalemate between transporters across the country and the government continued for the fifth day on Wednesday.

The Government of India has advised states to act tough on truckers and invoke Essential Commodities Act and National Security Act and impound trucks, if needed.

ESMA has already been notified in Gujarat, Uttar Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh, Rajasthan and Delhi.

Transport Secretary Brahm Dutt said that strict action would be taken against the truckers under provisions of the Act, adding that other states were also contemplating a similar action.

Meanwhile, the strike is gradually having an impact on the prices of essential commodities.
