Mumbai, Mar 14 : Celebrating his 44th birthday on Saturday, Bollywood actor Aamir Khan appealed people to exercise franchise in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.

Moscow - US actor Mickey Rourke fulfilled a "dream" by making a three-hour visit to Moscow's notorious Butyrka Prison as he prepares for his next big screen role as a Russian bad man, it was reported Saturday.

The 56-year-old - Oscar-nominated this year for his role in The Wrestler - met behind locked cell doors with inmates during the tour which included visits to the prison gym, church, museum and canteen, Moskovsky Komsomolets newspaper said.

It quoted Rourke as admiring the prison's facility for allowing inmates time with their wives - "that's very humane" - and said Rourke gave autographs to warders and inmates.

New York, Mar 14 : American pornographic actor Ron Jeremy has revealed that a movie, which featured him doing a porn scene, was nominated for an Oscar.

Jeremy, 56, learnt recently that he had been briefly shown in the movie "Waltz With Bashir", which was up for best foreign film.

"There''s a scene where one of the soldiers is watching a porno, and it''s me on the screen, you can tell . . . And they thank me in the end credits," the New York Post quoted him as telling avn. com.

London, Mar 14 : British singer Cheryl Cole has been dubbed as the icon for false eyelashes ever since sales figures shot up after she was pictured wearing them.

Cole, 25, inspired millions of teenage girls to wear them, just as pop icons Dusty Springfield and Twiggy did 40 years ago, and supermarket Tesco has revealed that sales have doubled up due to her.

"Cheryl Cole is doing for false eyelashes now what Dusty Springfield did for them in the 60s," the Sun quoted Tesco's health and beauty director Mark Tyldesley as saying.

The Babyshambles frontman revealed several years ago he had thrown himself at the Dundee crowd in Scotland when a fan got hold of his pants and fiercely pulled them upwards.

"The gig was going great, so I thought, ''I''ll dive in,'' and this big Scotsman just grabbed hold of my pants and said, ''Cop a load of this, Doherty''. Those were his exact words," the Daily Express quoted him as saying.
