Mumbai, Apr 24: Samajwadi Party (SP) General Secretary Amar Singh on Friday said his party would support Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) chief Sharad Pawar as Prime Minister.

“The NCP is expected to win at least 15 of 21 seats in Maharashtra. Nobody can become Prime Minister with support of 15 MPs. But Pawar is one such person who has friends and supporters in all political parties. The SP will extend support to Pawar as Prime Ministerial candidate,” Singh said during a roadshow here.

Lucknow, Apr 3 : The Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), the Lok Janshakti Party (LJP) and the Samajwadi Party (SP) will make a formal announcement of their new alliance here today.

On March 29, Samajwadi Party General Secretary Amar Singh said, "The RJD, the LJP and the SP will sit together in Lucknow to discuss and announce the secular alliance."

The three parties on March 26 had separately announced plans to contest the coming general elections in Uttar Pradesh and Bihar unitedly.

New Delhi, Mar 29 : The Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), the Lok Janshakti Party (LJP) and the Samajwadi Party (SP) will make a formal announcement of their new alliance on April 3, Samajwadi Party General Secretary Amar Singh said.

Talking to the reporters here today, Singh said, "They (RJD, LJP, SP) will sit together in Lucknow on April 3 at 11 am to discuss and announce the secular alliance."

New Delhi, Mar 29 : The Election Commission has issued notice to the Samajwadi Party (SP) chief and former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav, for allegedly misbehaving with a senior officer in Uttar Pradesh.

Addressing media persons, the Election Commissioner S. Y. Qureshi said the commission has given special directions to its officials to monitor the media so that suo moto action could be taken against candidates who are creating nuisance.

New Delhi, Mar 28 : Samajwadi Party (SP) General Secretary Amar Singh has claimed that saving the UPA government during the voting on the Indo-US nuclear deal debate in Parliament was a big blunder.

“We supported the Congress When it was going through rough patches. Now we believe that saving the UPA government at the time (when it was required to prove its majority) was a big blunder,” Singh told ANI in an exclusive interview.

Singh also said that his party’s aim to form a secular government was contradicted by some bad elements.
