PPP has enough support to win presidential poll: Sherry Rehman

Pakistan's Information and Broadcasting Minister Sherry RehmanIslamabad, Aug 30: Pakistan's Information and Broadcasting Minister Sherry Rehman has said that the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) has the required amount of support to win the September presidential election.

The Daily Times quoted Rahman, as saying that our party has the most representation in all provinces. We have the support of a comfortable majority and our opponents are only spreading misinformation.

PML-N Chairman says PPP should pull out of Punjab Govt.

PML-N Chairman Raja Zafarul HaqIslamabad, Aug 30: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Chairman Raja Zafarul Haq has said that the Pakistan People's Party (PPP) should pull out of he Punjab Government following the PML-N's exit from the ruling coalition.

Haq said his party would continue to run the Punjab government.

"The PML-N will not again join the PPP-led ruling coalition," The Daily Times quoted Haq, as saying.

Speaking about the presidential candidate, he said the party would not withdraw its presidential candidate.

Kaneria yearns for Test cricket action

On Thursday Pakistani leg spinner Danish Kaneria seemed a bit frustrated for not playing Test cricket for more than eight months, since he had a tour in India in last December and thus he requested his board to increase the Test schedule.

He queried, "Just imagine my last Test appearance was in India in December. Sometimes it is frustrating. How can a country go without a Test match for eight months?

Kaneria however, was amicable to the condition of PCB, after due to security reasons, Australia postponed their three-Tests and five ODI tour to Pakistan scheduled for April-May. The player, who recently injured his finger and had to go under small surgery, requested the Board to increase the Test schedule than thinking of more limited overs games.

Two killed, 32 hurt in Kohat suicide attacks

PakistanIslamabad, Aug. 29 : Two people were killed and 32, including 25 security men were injured in three suicide attacks in Kohat on Friday.

The News quoted sources, as saying that the suicide bombers attempted to ram three explosive-laden vehicles at security forces camp in a building near Kohat tunnel in Darra Adamkhel.

The first suicide bomber drove his double cab towards the building housing security forces, but security personnel opened fire on the vehicle before he could reach the structure.

PML (Q)’s Mushahid asks Zardari to quit presidential race

Sharif conditionally backs Zardari for Pakistani president Islamabad, Aug. 29 : The presidential candidate of Pakistan Muslim League (Q) Mushahid Hussain Syed has urged Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) co-chairman, Asif Ali Zardari, to quit the race for the post of Pakistan president.

Talking to media persons outside parliament house, Mushahid Hussain said that president should be identified with the reference of Pakistan. I am ready to debate Asif Zardari.
