NWFP’s ruling party admits government lost its writ in SwatIslamabad, Jan 27: The North West Frontier Province Government has lost its writ in the volatile Swat valley, the ruling Awami National Party has admitted in the Senate.

ANP senators Haji Adeel and Ilyas Bilour said the insurgency was spilling over to the rest of the country and would "reach Islamabad sooner than Lahore."

Bilour said Taliban had demolished more than 300 schools in the region once considered liberal, the Daily Times reported.

Petition seeking ban of Indian movies in Pakistan filed in HCIslamabad, Jan 27 (ANI): A writ petition has been filed in the Islamabad High Court (IHC), seeking a ban on the screening of Indian movies in cinema halls in Pakistan.

Nominating Pakistan's Ministry of Culture Secretary and the film censor board chairman as respondents, Advocate Yasir Mehmood Chaudhry pleaded before the court that India has banned Pakistani movies and television channels "then why we were promoting their culture and movies in our country."
