Islamabad, Mar 14: Addressing a high-level meeting at the presidency, President Asif Ali Zardari has described the lawyers’ Long March and sit-in as political moves and made it clear that political matters would be tackled politically, refusing to heed to the advice of Army Chief General Ashfaq Parvez Kayani and Prime Minister Yusuf Raza Gilani.

“The restoration of deposed CJ Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry is not possible and he will not be restored in any case,” he said.

Islamabad, Mar. 14 : Pakistan's leading news channel Geo News was blacked out in several cities on the behest of President Asif Ali Zardari.

According to sources, Zardari has sent a message to the channel's administration asking them to stop their coverage of the lawyers' long march.

In his message, Zardari said that if the channel has recovered the losses incurred after the ban imposed on during the Musharraf's regime, then it should refrain from covering the protest march, The News reports.

Islamabad  - Pakistani cable operators on Friday stopped transmissions by the Geo private news channel - apparently on the orders of the government during a cross-country march by the opposition parties, a Geo official said.

An alliance of opposition parties and tens of thousands of lawyers have launched a so called long march on Islamabad for independent judiciary, a move that seems to turning into a popular movement.

Addressing the Senate, he cited intelligence reports claiming that a Mumbai like incident could be replicated in Karachi. He also said that the lives of Sharif brothers were under threat, the Dawn reports.
