Islamabad, Jan. 17 : British Foreign Secretary David Miliband met Pakistan Army Chief General. Ashfaque Pervaiz Kayani to discuss the ongoing India-Pakistan tension in the wake of the Mumbai terror attacks, and the steps taken by Pakistan in the `war against terror' in the region.

Islamabad, Jan. 16 : Toughening his stance against the PPP regime in the country, Former Pakistan Prime Minister and Muslim League-N (PML-N) Chief Nawaz Sharif has said that there is no difference between the present `democratic' government in Pakistan and dictatorship.

"In a democracy Parliament is sovereign and the sword of Article 58(2)b does not dangle over it, judiciary is independent and the government does not bow before international pressures in matters involving national interest," The Dawn quoted Sharif, as saying.

Karachi, Jan. 17 : A day after the crackdown on terrorist groups and people involved in extremist activities, Pakistan has now banned several publications of the Jamaat-ud-Dawa (JuD) and other organizations for fanning sectarian hatred intended to outrage religious feelings of the Muslims.

According to The Nation, an official statement issued by the Sindh government said that it has proscribed several weekly and monthly publications of Jamaat-ud-Dawa Pakistan containing material which is objectionable, and provocative.

British Foreign Secretary David Miliband, who is on visit to Pakistan after a tour of India, said that those nabbed by Pakistan after the crackdown on the terrorist outfits in the country, should be punished through trial quickly.

Islamabad, Jan. 16 : British Foreign Secretary David Miliband called on Pakistan Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani here on Friday.

According to a Geo News report, he also met Pakistan Muslim League (N) Chief Mian Nawaz Sharif here at the Punjab House.

His visit to the Pakistan capital comes a day after his completion of a two-day visit to India, where he said there is need for the Pakistani authorities to showcase urgency in taking action against those responsible for the Mumbai terror attacks.
