Pak Minister denies Zardari making derogatory remarks on journalistsIslamabad, Jan. 20 : Pakistan's Information and Broadcasting Minister Sherry Rehman has denied that President Asif Ali Zardari made derogatory remarks about journalists.

"President Zardari has cordial relations with journalists, and he can never think of uttering such words," the Daily Times quoted Rehman, as saying.

Both President Zardari, and Prime Minister Gilani believe in the media's right to freedom of expression, she stressed.

Pakistan Senate appeals to India to lift ban on Pak television programmesKarachi, Jan. 20 : The Pakistani Senate's Standing Committee on Information and Broadcasting has appealed to the Indian Government to lift its ban on broadcasts from Pakistan television channels.

Senator Nilofer Bukhtiar said that Pakistan will approach the Indian Parliament to get permission from the government to allow the airing of Pakistani TV channel programmes in the country.

She stressed that Pakistan wants peaceful relations with India.

India, PakistanNew Delhi, Jan 19 : India has termed Pakistan’s assurances that it will deliver on the investigations into the November 2008 terror attack on Mumbai in ten days as an eyewash.

"What they are doing right now is not enough. It looks like an eyewash. I think the civilian power centre in Pakistan is not strong enough to act on its own. We are not confident and happy over the steps taken so far," Union Minister of State for Defense M M Pallam Raju told reporters during his visit to annual NCC Republic Day parade camp at New Delhi on Monday.
