Islamabad, Jan. 20 : Pakistan's Information and Broadcasting Minister Sherry Rehman has denied that President Asif Ali Zardari made derogatory remarks about journalists.

"President Zardari has cordial relations with journalists, and he can never think of uttering such words," the Daily Times quoted Rehman, as saying.

Both President Zardari, and Prime Minister Gilani believe in the media's right to freedom of expression, she stressed.

Karachi, Jan. 20 : The Pakistani Senate's Standing Committee on Information and Broadcasting has appealed to the Indian Government to lift its ban on broadcasts from Pakistan television channels.

Senator Nilofer Bukhtiar said that Pakistan will approach the Indian Parliament to get permission from the government to allow the airing of Pakistani TV channel programmes in the country.

She stressed that Pakistan wants peaceful relations with India.

Lahore, Jan. 20 : Amid international pressure to act hard and sincerely against the perpetrators of the November 2008 Mumbai attackers, Pakistan President Asif Ali Zardari has assured that the probe will be based on the dossier provided by India.

"The investigation into the Mumbai attacks will be carried out transparently in accordance with the information provided by India," the Daily Times quoted Zardari, as saying.

Islamabad, January 20 : Army Captain Ahmed Raza Khan, the Asian soldier at the centre of the Prince Harry `Paki' row, has been nothing less than a brave war hero, according to his family.

Ahmed was one of 440 elite cadets chosen to spend 44 weeks training alongside Harry at Sandhurst, the prestigious military academy in Surrey, between May 2005 and April 2006.

Lahore, Jan. 20: British Defence Secretary John Hutton has confirmed that the perpetrators of the 26/11 Mumbai attacks were Pakistanis, The Daily Times reports.

"We are certain that the Mumbai attackers were Pakistanis and Islamabad has to give assurance to the international community and India that the assailants would be punished and brought to justice," Hutton was quoted, as saying in an interview to a private television channel.

New Delhi, Jan 19 : India has termed Pakistan’s assurances that it will deliver on the investigations into the November 2008 terror attack on Mumbai in ten days as an eyewash.

"What they are doing right now is not enough. It looks like an eyewash. I think the civilian power centre in Pakistan is not strong enough to act on its own. We are not confident and happy over the steps taken so far," Union Minister of State for Defense M M Pallam Raju told reporters during his visit to annual NCC Republic Day parade camp at New Delhi on Monday.
