White House agrees that WMD attack on the US will originate from Pakistan

US & Pakistan Flag Washington, Dec. 4 : The White House has reportedly agreed with a bipartisan congressional commission’s report that the next WMD attack on the United States will originate from Pakistan.

''I have no reason to disagree with it,'' the Dawn quoted White House Press Secretary Dana Perino as saying when asked if the White House agreed with the report.

Rice seeks concrete action from Zardari on Mumbai probe

Condoleezza RiceIslamabad, Dec. 4 : US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice has reportedly got an assurance from Pakistan President Asi Ali Zardari that he and his government are committed to cooperate with India in the ongoing investigation into last week’s terror attacks in Mumbai.

Zardari, according ton CBS, has vowed to take "strong action" against any militants in his country if they are found to be involved.

Pakistan serves up biryani to Rice

Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice arrived here to give a talking to the Pakistani establishment on the recent terror attacks in Mumbai, which cost nearly 200 lives and injuries to nearly 300, the Government of Pakistan went into a hospitality overdrive to placate her and the other officials she had brought along.

Islamabad laid out a lavish lunch spread for the VIP guest, the highlight of which was a lamb biryani accompanied by condiments.

Zardari to visit Turkey on Friday

Asif Ali ZardariPakistan President Asif Ali Zardari will visit Turkey on Friday to attend the second trilateral summit. Afghan President Hamid Karzai will be a part of that meeting.

The summit will focus on "important development dimensions in the bilateral process including joint economic projects (and) regional and trilateral economic and trade matters," said a statement from the Foreign Office.

During his stay in Istanbul, Zardari will have separate bilateral meetings with Turkish President Abullah Gul and Karzai.

Mumbai attacks: Pak tells Mullen it will move troops if India heightens aggression

Islamabad, Dec. 4 : Pakistan has told the Unites States that it is not involved in the Mumbai terror attacks, directly or indirectly, and warned that any aggression from India will compel it to move its forces from the tribal areas in the west of the country to its eastern border with India.

Pakistan President Asif Ali Zardari is said to have conveyed this missive to visiting Admiral Mike Mullen, the Chairman of the US Joint Chiefs of Staff, who is on a short visit here.

The Dawn quoted sources as saying that Pakistani commanders have made it clear that the ‘war on terror’ would not be Pakistan’s top priority if there was any unusual military build-up by India along the borders.

Rice tells Pak to take a tough line on terrorism

Islamabad, Dec. 4 : U. S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice has told the Pakistan Government to take a "tough line" on terrorism after arriving in Islamabad for talks.

According to the BBC, Rice has also said that Pakistan has to mount a "robust" response to last week''s attacks in Mumbai, which left at least 188 people dead.

India has repeatedly insisted that the attackers had links to Pakistan, which Islamabad has denied.

Rice arrived in Islamabad from New Delhi where she called on both countries to show restraint in their respective responses to the Mumbai attacks.
