Pak-India trade talks postponed

India, PakistanIslamabad, Dec. 5 : Trade talks between Pakistan and India have been postponed for an indefinite period in the wake of Mumbai terror attacks.

Trade ministry sources told the Geo News on Friday that the secretary-level talks on enhancing trade ties were to be held in the first week of December in Islamabad.

They further said that both countries had to discuss a proposal to open three more trade routes.

According to an ARY Television report, the message for cancellation of talks has been received. However, the Indian trade ministry has hinted that the trade talks could be held at the end of next month.

Hameed Gul, Qureshi discuss US move regarding ISI

Miandad says PCB to strengthen domestic cricket

Javed MiandadLahore, Dec. 5 : Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Director-General Javed Miandad has said that he is determined and motivated enough to get the country’s first class cricketing infrastructure back on its feet.

“My utmost effort will be to revive domestic cricket that has been destroyed in the past seven years due to unwise steps taken by the previous regimes of the PCB,” he told reporters at the Gaddafi Stadium here on Thursday.

Asian Cricket Council LogoKarachi, Dec. 5 : If the India –Pakistan cricket series is postponed or cancelled due to political reasons, then the game would be badly affected, said Syed Ashraful Haq, Chief Executive of Asian Cricket Council (ACC).

“Uncertain situation of the cricket series between Pakistan and India is thought provoking, but we cannot play a further role to make the series certain,”Haq said in an interview to Geo News.

The India-Pakistan series is the biggest event not only in Asia, but also in the world of cricket, and everybody wants this series to be held on time, Haq added.

PCB decides to insure cricket events, series

Pakistan Cricket Board LogoLahore, Dec 5 : The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has decided to insure all of its cricket events and the series to avoid any monetary loss in case of cancellation or postponement of events and series under the present circumstances.

For this, the PCB has reportedly contacted a British insurance company, whose representative, David Borman, told PCB chief operating officer Saleem Altaf and other officials about insurance.

Borman briefed them about the method of insurance through which the monetary loss of the board could be minimized, reports The News.
