Lashkar says it has devised way to thwart Pak move to curb its freedom

Lashkar-e-toibaLahore, Dec. 8 : The banned militant outfit Lashkar-e-toiba has said that it has devised ways at the grassroots level to circumvent a Pakistan Government move to curb its activities.

Authorities in Islamabad have ordered the police to prevent banned militant organizations like the Lashkar from collecting the hides of sacrificial animals.

A member of Lashkar-e-Toiba said that the “organisation has already devised a grassroots-level strategy to collect hides.”

EU parliament urges Pakistan to extradite terrorists, end infiltration

European UnionBrussels , Dec. 8 : In a written declaration, the European Parliament has called on the Government of Pakistan to take immediate action to extradite to India leaders of the Khalistan and other terrorist groups who acknowledge their role in terrorist activities in India.

It has also called on Islamabad to stop all cross-border infiltration and take immediate measures to reform the teaching imparted in madrassas; adding that President Asif Ali Zardari needs to monitor this reform process personally.

PakistanLahore, Dec. 8 : The Pakistani Government, in its bid to tackle the terror problem amidst rising international pressure, has ordered the police to prevent banned militant organisations from collecting the hides of sacrificial animals.

After the Mumbai attack, India blamed Pakistan for not cracking down on banned organisations masterminding such attacks.

The Pakistan Government, however, has denied the Indian claims and decided to take extraordinary measures to neutralize all aspersions being raised against it.

The pre-dawn attack took place on the periphery of Peshawar city, where hundreds of militants on Sunday raided two parking bays for NATO-bound lorries and set ablaze around 150 vehicles and cargo containers, some loaded with armoured Humvees for the US military.

A study conducted by the out going Bush administration, reveals that the military aid provided to Pakistan by US to root out militant groups from its territory has been largely wasted.

“The $10 billion in military aid provided to Pakistan as ‘reimbursement’ for its efforts to root out militant groups has been ‘largely wasted’, reports David Sanger of New York Times.
