Expert says Pak needs to set aside its differences, work for national security

Islamabad, PakistanLahore, Dec. 9 : The biggest challenge before Pakistan, which is in the grip of a series of crises, is that it must set aside its political differences and work for boosting national security and economic stability, says a professor of political science at the Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS).

Money lures teams to visit India, not security arrangements: Rashid Latif

Lahore, Dec. 9 : Former Pakistan captain and wicket keeper Rashid Latif has said that cricket teams around the world tour India not because of the sound security provisions, but because of the lure of money offered to them.

“The money India is putting into cricket nowadays no one can dare to refuse that. It is greed and nothing else,” Latif said as reported by The International News.

“India remains safe in the eyes of international cricketers despite terror strikes in Mumbai not because of good security but the money-making opportunities it offers to them,”Latif claimed.

Even if terrorists are found guilty, Pak will not hand them over to India: Qureshi

India, PakistanIslamabad, Dec. 9 : Pakistan’s Foreign Minister Makhdoom Shah Mehmood Qureshi has said even if allegations are proved against any so-called terrorist suspect, he or she will not be handed over to India.

"We are not oblivious to our responsibilities to defend our homeland. But it is our desire that there should be no war. Pakistan will not hand India any of the Lashkar-e-Taiba militants arrested on Sunday for they’re suspected role in the Mumbai terrorist attacks, but will try them under its own laws.”

Police say Mumbai terrorist wants to write a letter to parents

New Delhi - The lone terrorist captured in the Mumbai attacks, Ajmal Amir Kasav, wants to write a letter to his parents in Pakistan saying he was "misled" by the terrorist group, Indian media reported Tuesday.

"He (Kasav) expressed his desire to write a letter to his parents. He wants to write the letter saying he was misled by the group," Joint Commissioner of Police Rakesh Maria told the CNN-IBN news channel.

"Kasav told us this two days ago and we are examining it," he added.
