Pakistani government says charge sheet against Musharraf drafted

Pervez MusharrafIslamabad  - Pakistan's ruling coalition said on Saturday it had prepared a charge sheet against President Pervez Musharraf to impeach him in parliament.

Information Minister Sherry Rehman said the draft of the charges had been handed to the Law Ministry, which was expected to convert it into appropriate legal language.

"The legal draft will be presented to the coalition leaders on Sunday or Monday and after their approval it will be tabled in parliament next week," she told Deutsche Presse-Agentur dpa.

Farooq said that the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz is of the view that Musharraf should be tried for treason, which carries a maximum punishment of death.

According to The News, heavy and automatic weapons were used in the clashes in different areas of Kurram Agency.

Injured were shifted to Alizai, Sada, Shishu and Parachanar.

Fighting is spreading to more areas.

Sectarian violence in Pakistani tribal district leaves 13 dead

PakistanIslamabad- At least 13 people were killed and 15 injured Saturday in fresh sectarian clashes between rival Shiite and Sunni Muslim tribesmen in north-western Pakistan, media reports said.

Scores of fighters targeted each other with heavy weapons as the running battles between the sides continued for the 11th-consecutive day in the Kurram tribal district, which borders Afghanistan, the Geo television news channel reported.

Provincial Assembly Speaker Nisar Ahmed Khuhro welcomed Ansari to the House.

Quite to amusement to all, the Speaker said that he welcomed guests sitting there “whether they were coming or going”, in an apparent reaction to the impending Impeachment move against Musharraf on Monday.

Pakistan Prime Minister Yousuf Raza GilaniIslamabad, Aug 16 : Pakistan Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani has said that foreign militants, especially from Chechnya and Uzbekistan, wanted to destabilise Pakistan, but, he added, his government would establish its writ at every cost.

He said that a stern action against the militants was essential.

Gilani said Pakistan was envisioned free of terrorism and extremism by the government, and that a political dialogue with all the stakeholders would be initiated for the purpose.
