Symonds not keen to tour “bombed” Pakistan

Sydney, Nov 14: Australian all-rounder Andrew Symonds has shown signs of reluctance to tour Pakistan next year, saying there has been a lot of “bombs going off” in that country.

"There do seem to be a lot of bombs going off over there, " a Symonds told reporter ahead of the second Test match against visiting Sri Lanka beginning Friday at the Bellerive Oval in Hobart.

"At the end of the day, it is only a game of cricket… But I suppose being the diplomat that I am, we are going to have to wait and see when we get closer to the time how many bombs are going off over there. But it is being bombed, ” the Sydney Morning Herald quoted him, as saying.

The daily said that while the Queensland player appeared to be joking around while chatting with the media, it does underline doubts over whether Australia would make their three-Test tour as planned to Pakistan in March.

It may be recalled that Australia's tour of Pakistan in 2002-03 had to be moved to Colombo and Sharjah for security reasons. (ANI)
