Suzlon to install 3000 mw power generation capacity in Andhra PradeshSuzlon Energy, which is a leading wind turbine manufacturer, has entered into an agreement with the authorities of the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh to install capacities to generate about 3,000 mw of power till 2016 through wind energy.

Suzlon signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Andhra Pradesh government for setting up of the wind farms at the CII's Partnership Summit in Hydrabad, which was attended by the Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy.

Under the agreement, the state authorities will assist the company in obtaining necessary permissions, registrations, approvals and clearances for building wind farms. The agreement involves a potential investment of up to Rs. 18,000 crore in the state.

Suzlon Group Chairman Tulasi Tanti has said that development will take place in the districts of Tallimadugula, Alankarayanipeta, Gandikota, Vajrakarur, Tirumalayapalli and other places in the state. The state provides medium to low wind sites that are wel suited for Suzlon’s new S9X suite of turbines.

“This not only reinforces Andhra Pradesh’s position as one of India’s emerging markets in wind energy, but also illustrates their commitment to power a low-carbon economy by embracing progressive policies to power rapidly growing economy of the state,” he said.
