Surat Diamond Markets Could be the Next Target for Terror Attack
The recent bomb attack in financial capital of India, Mumbai has rocked the nation once again. Mumbaikars and whole nation has not even completely forgotten the 26/11 incident happened in 2008 that again an incident has happened. This tragedy has led to arousal of fears among people thinking about their safety in respective states.
The recent topic of discussion is bustling diamond market in Surat could be the next target of terrorists, the proclamation has been made on the grounds that the recent terror attack happened outside the diamond trading hub of Opera House in Mumbai.
The diamond merchants, brokers carry out the business of several crores every day in the Mahidharpura Hira Bazaar and Varachha Mini Bazaar in Surat but security is next to negligible. Though the diamond firms and offices had latest security gadgets to guard their worth, as a whole there was no security.
Pravin Nanavati, a diamond trader and former president of Surat Diamond Association told that security arrangements were missing in the diamond markets and after the Mumbai incident they urgently want that the security system in Surat diamond market should be reinforced.
The local diamond association in Surat had earlier also tried varied measures like to install CCTVs in diamond markets, but due to lack of funds, they could not be installed. But they said that money would be raised from members and cameras would find their place in the markets in coming days.
