Sunita Williams arrives in Delhi

New Delhi, Sept. 29 : American Indian astronaut Sunita Williams arrived here today, months after completing her successful expedition aboard the space shuttle "Discovery".

Williams arrived here after attending the concluding session of the 58th International Astronautical Congress (IAC) in Hyderabad. She was given a warm welcome by her fans and American Embassy officials.

During her six-day stay, Williams will meet Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi. She is also scheduled to meet other prominent personalities.

On Monday, Williams will interact with school children and share her experiences as a space traveller.

Williams reached Ahmedabad on September 20. She visited her ancestral home in Jhulasan village in North Gujarat’s Mehsana District and Sabarmati Ashram in Ahmedabad.

Her last visit to India took place in 1998, when she accompanied an urn believed to contain the ashes of India-born astronaut Kalpana Chawla. (With inputs from ANI)
