Peshawar, Jan 17 : At least five persons were killed and 23 others were injured on Thursday in a suicide attack that took place near an Imam Bargah in Peshawar.

The Federal Interior Ministry has confirmed that the blast was a suicide attack.

The injured have been admitted to different hospitals of the city.

According to a few eyewitnesses, the blast occurred at the door of Imam Bargah.

The police have cordoned off the area.

Meanwhile, a high alert has been declared in Karachi after the bomb blast.

The United States Embassy has advised the US nationals to observe caution and avoid to go outside of homes unnecessarily, The News reported. (ANI)
