Stock Markets Firm; Reliance at All-Time High
The Stock markets have gained more strength from its opening levels after heavy buying action seen in real estate, auto and pharmaceutical stocks. The overall market breadth was optimistic as on National Stock Exchange (NSE), more than 750 stocks were in the green and about 250 stocks on the downside.
In early trading, the BSE Sensex gained 202.76 points at 15324.50,
whereas Nifty made 39.65 points gain at 4451.95. During the trading hours in stock markets, 1932 companies marched ahead compared to 1001 stocks in the red.
Reliance Industries hit record high in today’s trading session. It was dealing at 1939.70 up Rs 32.30. The stock has had its intraday high is Rs 1,944.40 and an intraday low of Rs 1,900.05. Other auto stocks have been doing well since yesterday and BSE auto index gained 1.92% at 4868.49.
Among the sectoral indices, BSE Midcap gained 1.4% at 6574.19, whereas BSE small-cap was up 0.9% at 8025.99. Rupee is trading at 41.045 today after missing around 6 paise.
The major players on the BSE Sensex included Ranbaxy Labs, which gained 2.66% at Rs 388, Tata Motors up by 2.63% at Rs 699.80 and Mahindra and Mahindra ascended 2.32% at Rs 690.80.
The market losers’ list contained HDFC Bank that lost 1.1% to Rs 1,169, HDFC declined 0.55% and was trading at Rs 1,975. Metal stocks were also weak and Hindalco lost 0.28% at Rs 158.
Tata Motors has been rallying for past 3 days on the back of good consolidated results reported after Corus acquisition. The stock was quoting at 700.05 up 2.7%.
Realty sector was also performing well. The major gainers in this counter include Indiabulls Real estate at Rs 485.36 up 3.66% and Parsvnath up by Rs 10.45 at Rs 304.45.
The active shares on Bombay Stock Exchange were HDIL at Rs 541.10 with 482,420 shares traded, Reliance at Rs 1,919 with 111,935 shares and Orbit Corporation at Rs 463.60 with 445,890 shares.
