SRK To Inaugurate The 38th International Film Festival Of India
Panaji: Bollywood superstar Shahrukh Khan will inaugurate the 38th International Film Festival of India (IFFI) in Goa on November 23, officials said.
“He was kind enough to give his consent to be there,” film festival director Neelam Kapur said.
While the celebrities including singer Shaan, Kunal Ganjawala, Hema Sardesai and Sadhana Sargam, actor Varsha Usgaonkar and others, will feature in concerts planned.
Goa decided to spend 35 % of its Rs 1.5 crore budget for activities on Bollywood stars. Besides the major activities, the Entertainment Society of Goa (ESG) has planned programmes in 10 places.
ESG's programme committee chairman Vishnu Wagh, said, “Special stages would be erected at Margao, Bicholim, Mardol, Vasco, Caranzalem and other five rural destinations.”
Renowned band Indian Ocean, pop singer Milind Ingle, dancer and TV host Sharwani Jemenis, Marathi singers Ravindra Sathe, Suvarna Mategonker, Suresh bapat and Pralhad Hadkodkar, fusion artist N Vasudevan and Goa’s own Tri Mel-Nel-Del will perform in the various concerts and shows.
‘4 Months 3 Weeks 2 Days’, a film by Cristian Mungiun of Romania, which has been awarded at Cannes festival this year, will be the opening film at Goa.
For the Indian panorama, the jury has short listed 21 feature and 15 non-feature films.
