South Indian Actress Yamuna Held On Prostitution Charges
Before the release of her Kannada film Kanteerava, well-known South Indian beauty Yamuna topped news headlines, but for all wrong reasons.
According to reports, the Bangalore police seized Yamuna for her suspected connection in a prostitution racket in a five star hotel in the city of Bangalore.
According to police sources, the actress together with eight other members got arrested red handed during a raid on the said hotel.
As per police sources, "On a specific information, we conducted a raid on room no. 1402, 4th floor in ITC Royal Gardenia Hotel, Bangalore. During the raid, we have recovered Rs. 2 laks from actress Yamuna and Rs 46,000 from her pimp Surakshit of Puttur in Andhra Pradesh. Customer Nandakumar, the owner of Transoft Call Centre and a resident of Kasthuri Nagar in Indira Nagar, has been arrested. Nandakumar's Toyota Forturner and pimps' Hundai Electra cars have also been seized."
The officials said that the hotel room number 1402 was reserved for one hour for Rs 28,000, whereas an amount worth Rs. 2 lakhs was determined for Yamuna for an hour.
"But, Yamuna and the clients were produced before 1st ACMM judge on January 20 and both were remanded to custody. Yesterday, they got released on bail. Meanwhile, pimp Surakshit was also produced before court and was later given to police custody till 28th of this month," they also said.
Yamuna's has worked in hit flicks including Mamagaru, Mouna Poratam and Erra Mandaram.
She made her debut in the Kannada film industry with Shivaraj Kumar's film Modada Mareyalli in the year 1991.
She has also worked with crazy star V Ravichandran in Chinna in 1994. Yamuna was the spicy symbol in South Indian film industry in 1990s.
Her newest film in Kannada is Duniya Vijay's Kanteerava that released yesterday (21st January).
