Japanese electronics giant, Sony has said that it is now accepting booking orders for its Sony Xperia ZR, which will expand the company's flagship Sony Xperia Z.

The Sony Xperia ZR is water-proof and dust-proof and it will also allow users to click pictures from under the water. Many believe that the customers have reached well to the device and might be able to attract new customers in the growing Indian telecom market. The new Sony Xperia ZR is now available for pre-booking on most e-commerce sites.

Sony is expected to launch the device on 15 June, 2013 and the smartphone is expected to be delivered within 1-2 days of shipping. The smartphone features a 4.6-inch HD Reality LCD screen and a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels. It comes with a new display technology named `OptiContrast' panel that removes the gap between the screen and the touch sensor as it integrates the sensor on the main panel.

Sony Xperia ZR will come with the mobile BRAVIA display for improved performance and is powered by a 1.5GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 quad-core processor. It has an internal memory of 8 GB which is expandable to 32 GB using a MicroSD card and 2 GB RAM. It has a 13 MP rear end camera with Exmor RS with 16x digital zoom with auto-focus and the front camera is a basic VGA resolution camera.

The new Sony Xperia Z is available for Rs 29,990 in the Indian market.
