Sony introduces Windows 8-based ‘hybrid slider’ PC
Sony has recently introduced its Windows 8-based Vaio Duo 11 `hybrid slider' PC - which is both a laptop and a touchscreen tablet - which will likely hit the markets, along with several other Windows 8-based devices, on October
26 --- the scheduled release date of Microsoft's forthcoming Windows 8 operating system.
Boasting the capability to function as a dual device, the `hybrid' Sony Vaio Duo 11 is essentially a full keyboard-equipped ultrabook - the brand name which Intel has introduced for ultra-slim and powerful laptops - which can also be converted into an 11.6-inch tablet.
Featuring a full high-definition touchscreen LCD screen, a backlit keyboard, near-field communications (NFC) wireless technology, and an Intel Core processor - Core i3 to Core i7 -, the 2.84-pound Sony Vaio Duo 11 is a versatile device, which gives the users the flexibility of using a PC or a tablet, depending on their need at a particular time.
In addition, the Vaio Duo 11 - to be priced at $1,099 - also features a pressure-sensitive digitizer pen that will give the users the ability to write on the touchscreen; on which handwritten notes can also be jotted down using the Note Anytime application.
Furthermore, the new Sony `hybrid slider' is also capable of identifying 10-finger touches concurrently; and can run a number of apps, including finger painting and full Microsoft Office programs, as well as the Sony Active Clip app, using which users can crop photos and graphics.
