Skoda Octavia vRS becomes world’s fastest car in its segment Automaker, Skoda’s Octavia vRS has officially become the fastest car in 2.0-litre supercharged production car category after speeding at a speed of 227.07mph.

The UK unit of the company took the car to test at Bonneville Speed Week aiming to break the 200mph for celebrating the 10th anniversary of the vRS badge. The vehicle not just crossed the 200mph mark but also smashed the previous record for the category of 216mph.

"This is a truly stunning achievement. The success is a tribute to everyone who has worked so tirelessly and with such passion to make Skoda a world beater," said Robert Hazelwood, director at Skoda UK.

The Octavia vRS hatchback comes with a starting price of £20,330.
