Czech carmaker Skoda has announced the launch of a limited edition of its Rapid Prestige model in the Indian market.

The limited edition of edition variant of the Rapid, called Rapid Prestige will only be available in the diesel version in the country. The company is offering a host of new features like parking sensors, wind visors, textile floor mats and navigation system in the new special edition variant.

The Rapid Prestige will be powered by a 1.6-litre TDI engine offering 105PS of power and 250Nm of torque and 5-speed manual transmission to the front wheels. The limited variants models will have 'Prestige' badging on the sides of the car in order to be differentiated form the regular Rapid models.

Meanwhile, Mr. Andreas Hafemann, head of Skoda’s China operations has indicated that the company is working to develop a new derivative of the Rapid and it will be launched in the coming future. It is believed that the new car will be based on VisionD, a hatchback concept based on the Rapid that was showcased by the company in 2011 at the Geneva Motor Show.
