Simpson charged with kidnapping too
Washington, September 19 : Former American football star O.J. Simpson has been charged with kidnapping and seven other felony counts in connection with an alleged armed robbery of sports merchandise in Las Vegas.
The 60-year-old star will face these charges, along with a misdemeanour, in the court on Wednesday morning.
The new charges are distinct from the original six counts levelled against Simpson, when he was booked into jail on Sunday.
Prosecutors announced on Tuesday that the charge of kidnapping with a deadly weapon had been added.
Simpson may face 30 years in prison on each robbery count should he be convicted, reports People magazine.
Three of his co-defendants have also been charged with the same counts, along with a misdemeanour charge of conspiracy to commit a crime.
The charges that Simpson faces include conspiracy to commit a kidnapping, kidnapping with use of a deadly weapon, burglary with use of a deadly weapon, robbery with use of a deadly weapon, assault with use of a deadly weapon, and coercion with use of a deadly weapon.
A decision on his bail is also expected to come during Wednesday morning's hearing. (With inputs from ANI)
