Shares gain over 2 per cent in Seoul
Seoul - Shares surged more than 2 per cent Friday on the Seoul stock exchange on strong institutional buying. South Korea's currency inched up against the dollar.
The benchmark Kospi index soared 21.59 points, or 2.1 per cent, to close at 1,028.13.
Advancing issues outpaced decliners 504 to 301.
The main index of the technology-heavy Kosdaq market rose 3.24 points, or 1.08 per cent, to 302.16.
On currency markets, the dollar was quoted at 1,475.50 Korean won, after 1,477 won on Thursday. (dpa)
