Shares fall sharply in Seoul
Seoul - Shares continued to fall Wednesday on the Seoul stock exchange on mounting worries over the banking sector worldwide. South Korea's currency edged up against the dollar.
The benchmark Kospi index plunged 23.20 points, or 2.1 per cent, to close at 1,103.61.
Declining issues outnumbered advancers 654 to 199.
The main index of the technology-heavy Kosdaq market declined 5.76 points to 352.43.
On currency markets, the US dollar was quoted at 1,373.0 Korean won, after Tuesday's close of 1,374.50 won. (dpa)
