Sexting ensures Sexual Satisfaction in Romantic Relationships
In a new study, researchers have studied association between sexting and sexual satisfaction among romantic and sexual relationships. Researchers have found that sexting is linked to sexual satisfaction in these relationships.
As per study researchers, more number of adults has been sexting to their friends and partners through smartphones. Eight out of 10 surveyed people have admitted of doing it.
Study's lead researcher Emily Stasko from Drexel University, was of the view, "Given the possible implications for sexual health, it was important to investigate the role 'sexting' plays in current romantic and sexual relationships".
After carrying out the study, they have found increased level of sexting to be associated with increased level of sexual satisfaction and especially, for those who are in a relationship. In the survey, 870 people from the USA aged between 18 and 82 were enrolled.
Main aim behind the survey was to evaluate sexting behaviors, sexting motives and relationship and sexual satisfaction. Out of the total, 88% reported of ever sexted and 82% reported they had sexted in the last year.
Nearly 75% participants said that they had sexted in the commited relationship and 43% have said that they have sexted as a part of casual relationship. Participants who were single (26%) had low scores for sexual satisfaction.
Study researchers said that sexting has been associated as a risky activity. But they also affirmed that due to this perspective, its potential positive effects of having open sexual communication with partner are not being considered.
