Several operators and retailers to sell Nokia’s Lumia 920 and Lumia 820 in Australia

NokiaOn Thursday, several operators and retailers in Australia confirmed that they would be selling Nokia’s new Windows 8-based Lumia handsets – Lumia 920 and Lumia 820 – in the country.

According to the details shared by the operators and retailers, the Nokia Lumia 920 – which will be the Finnish handset-maker’s flagship handset – will come to Telstra’s ultra-fast LTE network; while the mid-range feature-rich Nokia Lumia 820 will be available for Vodafone and Optus Business customers. Both the smartphones will also be sold by a number of bigwig Australian retailers.

Acknowledging the fact that “operators and retailers are throwing their weight behind new Nokia Lumia smartphones,” Steve Lewis – Managing Director of Nokia Australia – said: “We appreciate their continued support.”

Both Nokia Lumia 920 and Lumia 820 handsets – which will boast compatibility with all Australian networks including 4G and dual-carrier - will be available in a wide array of colours, including black, white, grey, red and yellow.

However, the details pertaining to the Australian pricing of both the new Nokia Lumia line of handsets as well as their exact launch date in the country will be announced towards the end of October, apparently close to the much-awaited ‘October 26’ release date of Microsoft’s Windows 8 operating system.
