Sensex Surges 107 Points In Early Trade
A benchmark index for Indian stocks belled the day on a strong note and was ruling 107 points up, about 10 minutes into trade today.
At 9.12 a. m., the 30-share index BSE Sensex, which opened at 16,778.29, stood at 16,879.69 after gaining 107.13 points as against its last closure at 16,772.56 points.
In contrast, the broad-based Nifty stood at 5,050.4 as against its previous closure at 5,017, a gain of 0.67%.
Broader markets also witnessed buying interest with the BSE midcap index trading 1.03% up and the BSE small cap index 0.83%higher.
On Tuesday, Sensex closed the day at 16,772.56, up 343.01 points, while Nifty closed trade at 5,017 points after gaining 94.7 points.
The BSE midcap index closed 2.2% up and the BSE small cap index surged 2.33%.
Auto, metals and banking and FMCG stocks witnessed huge buying action, with all 13 BSE sectoral indices ended in the positive zone. (With Input from Agencies)
