Sensex starts week on quiet note

Mumbai, Oct 10 - A benchmark index for Indian equities Monday made a quiet start to the week, while broader markets nudged up soon after opening bell.

The 30-scrip sensitive index (Sensex) of the BSE, opened at 16,270.07 points and was ruling at 16,278.69 points, up 46.15 points or 0.28 percent from its previous close at 16,232.54 points.

The 50-scrip S&P CNX Nifty of the National Stock Exchange was also trading lacklustre, 0.14 percent or 6.85 points up at 4,894.9 points.

Broader markets were also subdued. The BSE midcap index was up 0.39 percent, while the BSE small cap index was ruling 0.15 percent up. (IANS)
