Sensex Slips 43 Pts; Tata Motors Surges 6%The 30-share index Sensex lost around 43 points during the opening trade today, on account of profit-booking.

The Sensex, which surged 80.10 points in yesterday's volatile session, lost 42.85 points to trade at 20,889.03 during the morning trade.

Likewise, the broad-based Nifty dropped 19.05 points to 6,282.50.

Brokers stated that fresh selling session by funds as well as retailers on existing levels, together with lower than projected quarterly incomes of Telecom giant Bharti Airtel overburdened the trading response.

As per latest reports, Bhart Airtel's's consolidated net profit dropped 26.53% to Rs 1,661.2 crore for the three month period ended September 30 as against Rs 2,263 crore during the same period of 2009.

The shares of the telecom giant lost 0.6%to trade at Rs 332.30 as against its opening price of Rs 345.70.

Losses in financial segment, metals, information technology, and capital goods sector scrips also dragged the Sensex down.

But, auto major Tata Motors gained more than 6% to trade at Rs 1,347 after the firm registered a 102-fold increase in its consolidated net profits for the three month period ended September 30.

In other Asian stock exchanges, the Hong Kong's Hang Seng index shed 0.33%, whereas Japanese Nikkei remained up by over 1% during the morning trade today.
