Sensex Sheds 47 Pts After Positive Opening
After couple of hours into trade, the 30-share index BSE Sensex fell 47 points as compared to its previous closure.
Sensex, which belled the day at 16,264.1 points, stood at 16,208.91 after shedding gains garnered just after the opening bell.
Meanwhile, the broad based Nifty lost 12.8 points to trade at 4,845.8 points.
Broader market indices were trading on a flat note.
Buying action was seen across consumer durables, healthcare and realty scrips, while FMCG, auto and energy stocks remained weak.
The overall breadth of the stock market was positive as it witnessed 1,187 advancements as against 1,181 declinations.
The majority of other Asian markets were trading negatively with the benchmark Japanese index, Nikkei, shedding 0.89% to trade at 10,107.99, whereas the South Korean Kospi was 1.53% down to trade at 1,588.22.
Hong Kong's Hang Seng was also ruling negatively at 20,311.83, down 0.76%.
But, the Chinese Shanghai composite index was trading positively at 3,049.55, up 0.91%. (With Input from Agencies)
